Detractors are like
eunuchs in a harem; they know how it's done, they've seen it done every day,
but they're unable to do it themselves.
We have all had them as we set and go after our objective, no matter
where we are what our aim may be; there are enough slander, belittler, disparager, and defamer waiting outside to make
fun or tell us we can’t do it, it is next to impossible etc.etc.

Detractors are very serious disease like mesothelioma (a rare type of cancer that occurs in the thin cell walls) if they just seem to be
having a perverted joy at your expense. Don’t them stop or pull you down.
How
to work with detractors? It is not easy to notice them, because they are
everywhere in different colors and creed. Here are some suggestions:
How to identify them: He
or she could be your friend or manager or colleague or any trusted person.
Their so called advise or suggestion discourages you, make you feel stopping the
work or project than this person may be a detractor.
Weigh the Point: The
detractors sound as if they are just trying to be realist and reasoning out
with you the pros and cons. Their reasons may be valid in the negative
thinking. Sit alone and think objectively whether they are really concerned or
just bringing in an obstacle to stop you moving forward. In your scale their
points not weighing much you must figure out how to ignore.
Scatter the seed of doubt: The
Detractors aim is to just scatter the seed of doubt into your mind. With consistent
pestering (like watering the land) the detractors can make the seed grow into a
huge Banyan Tree of doubts. It can penetrate into the foundation of your objectives.
Push them out, and don’t let them take-over you. Think positively.
Detractors Everywhere: In
everyone’s life definitely there will be one detractor, but some many more. You
can’t avoid them, but learn to avoid them is the name of the game. Hear them what the detractors say, but don’t listen to them. The will not have
any impact on you if you don’t listen to them. IGNORE.
Corner them: Not necessary, a
Detractor have to be an outsider, may be someone close to you, you can’t avoid
or ignore them. Corner them with your ideas and explain them to support you. If
you can corner them with your valid points, they can be your best partner,
instead of your detractor.
Mark the Boundary line: Decide on a specific action you will take
if the detractor in your life continues to bombard you with criticism. Clearly,
lovingly, and firmly tell him or her what you will do if it happens again. Just
you may walk out of the room, politely
excuse yourself from further discussion, or, if it’s serious enough, end the
relationship altogether. It’s important for your well-being to remove yourself
from that toxic energy.
Stay on Track: Don’t let criticism and
insults from the detractors pust you out of the tracks. Deal appropriately with
damaging criticism, but don’t allow every petty and insignificant detractor to
pull you off track. Not every snide comment demands a response. Set your
intention and keep focused on what’s important in your life so you can go on
giving your gifts to others.
Sometimes there’s nothing you can do. You can’t
conquer them, you can’t throw them out of your life, you can’t convince them. Again,
there will always be detractors in your life. But they are just more obstacles
that you have to overcome to get to your objective. There will always be
obstacles, but if you think positive, and seek solutions, you can beat them (or get Detractors to join you).
